Productive Day!

Yesterday I received the RHSS Whip box from my wonderful friends at Post Mortem over on Ravelry:

Included was one (1) RHSS (Red Heart Super Saver) Whip:

I removed some lovely vintage craft magazines* from the box:

And scored some awesome yarn. Phoebe has marked it as hers, so now I can’t give it back!

I then restashed the box with this stuff:

Ian chased Phoebe around with the whip:

She made it down the stairs to safety!

And the whip was a little tangled, so I modified it a bit to make it more useful for actual whipping.

And despite the whipping and drama, I still managed to accomplish one maple leafy strawberry-rhubarb pie, 16 jars of strawberry jam, and one caved-in loaf of bread.

All despite having an aching back and a sunburn from picking the strawberries the day before. Stupid strawberries. Why hasn’t Monsanto genetically modified some high bush strawberries yet?

Anyways. I also froze a bunch of them and dried another pile. Altogether 12 quarts of strawberries passed through my house yesterday.

Today, I am so tired, I sat down to knit. But I finally had to accept the fact that the sock I am working on would not fit any human foot, so I had to frog it back about 4 inches. And it is in this irritatingly fiddly herringbone pattern too. So I actually got a negative amount accomplished today! Woo hoo!

*I haven’t read through them all yet, but I have to say I enjoyed the recommendation in the one I have read to apply DDT to keep moth larvae out of your pear trees…. YUMMY!!!

Wonderful blog and enjoyable to read! You received an awesome box! I loved my first box. I never thought to take pictures though. Guess I'll have to remember the next time.

Glad you finally got a box, looks like some interesting things in there.

Where do you find all the time to do everything? You must be very organized.

Do I ... do I ... recognize some of that yarn??? I am glad it is going to a good home. I have still managed not to acquire a stash beyond 1 small tupperware container. It is rather miraculous.

How are you? I am alive. Barely. Lots going on here that I shan't detail in the blog - some health things - it's either going to be one thing or another, one's bad and one's really super bad, so, finger's crossed it's only *kinda* bad. Work's busy as heck and that's about it. Knitting a lot of dishcloths. I highly recommend "Yarnplay at Home" - I have knit at least five patterns out of it, and two of them (the dishcloths, natch), I've knit four times each.

Glad to see that you're posting again. I was talking about your pickles the other day. Is it pickle time yet?

Thinking of you all the way out here in hot-as-hell California ...
